Walking is good to immerse yourself completely in your environment. In the Borderie de la Marchaizière, it is the same; no need to walk but an immersion in a rural and wonderful world where Catherine and Jean-Yves are willing to share their lives. Relaxation and enjoyment guaranteed.

8km by foot to dive into the land of  Vendée.

After having hosted like royalty, Marion, eight months and a half pregnant, has the extreme kindness to let us in Aizenay, less than 10km from our destination.

It is with a touch of sadness that we separate from her, but with great joy that we begin our walk. It is 9:30.

[box type = “note”] Small hills, hemp fields, curves and bends… We avoid asphalt thanks to wide strips of greenery that line the road. [/ box] [one_half]

A short pit stop at the PMU facing the church of La Chapelle Palluau  (there is one in every single village of France). Just enough to take a coffee, fill our bottles with fresh water (on the proposal of the lady boss), hear that we walk real fast from a local guy  who passed us earlier with his car, and take some indications to cut through the countryside to reach the hamlet of Marchaizière, 4km away. Very nice people!

A few kilometers from the finish, we finally get the thumb up as a van passes by, to relieve Justine’s back.

Christophe is taking us to our destination. He returns from La Roche s/ Yon with material for retyping his house and makes a detour to drop us to the guest house. “I don’t know this place. Here’s the opportunity to discover it”. Less than an hour later, our phones vibrate as a new “like” appears on Facebook: this is Christophe, with a bonus message : “Come have a drink tonight if you have spare time.”

Really, definitely nice people!

La Borderie de la Marchaizière ; “FOR” social link!

Imagine a hamlet with three families. That is Marchaizière. Imagine a barn renovated into 4 cottages + a place to live, a very cute pool with natural filtration, an orchard, a large kitchen garden, a farm with a pig, two goats, chickens and a goose; it is the Borderie de la Marchaizière.
Well almost! Because if we did not mention hospitality, smiles and kindness of Catherine and Jean-Yves, we did not do the trick.

After a very educational tour by the owner and a lunch, we get into our new house in order to work hard on two main issues:

  • Self-building and participatory projects to increase the capacity of the guest house.
  • A new concept of participative guest house… (we’ll probably talk about it soon! …).

[box type = “note”]3h30 later, we formalized our research, our ideas and theirs, as well as the two topics. This couple’s will is among everything to grow more link with the clients and between them.[/ Box] [one_half]

It is already happening informally; the question is how to formalize it a little more and power it to the clients?

[/one_half] [one_half_last]

Suffice to say that we are in our element, physically and philosophically. Exchanges are fed, our work pleases our hosts; and so are we.
