Who? The team

The impulse to travel is one of the hopeful symptoms of life.

Agnès Repplier

Since they were born, shall we say, there are in both (Justine and Mahery) a kind of a citizen awareness (no less !) : the desire to do good, to change the world, to serve other(s) -and thus ourselves- the need of meeting, sharing and being collective. Humility came later!

We both followed our ways, and they have crossed at the crossroads of travel health.
We quickly took our first plane ticket together. After the 3 short weeks of this first trip together, the idea was born. In another trip, we thought it over. Today it’s driving us fully: Hopineo.

Since the beginning of 2014, we started a journey that we were looking forward to sharing.

June 2014, Florie joined the team, then Jean-Luc, Marion, Capucine, Jacquelyn, Anaëlle, Louis, Nassim, Megan, Ryan, Gwen and Alex…
In-between, Marie, Laurent, Nico, Julien, the other Nico, another Laurent began to lend their diverse skills in order to develop and make alive the community and its tools ; they continue today.
And then Holly, Claudia, Gabriela, Marian and many others answered to the successive calls of Justine and Florie to translate daily articles and videos of the website… in 3 languages !

A community was born, where each one can bring his contribution -small, medium or huge- in order to make it work !

We are all motivated by the same goal : contributing to strengthen and promote a better tourism, for a better world !

You too, can take part to the adventure, for 3 days or forever !
The possibilities are numerous ; feel very welcome !

Antoine

Antoine

#Environment #TourismDevelopment

Growing up in one of the places where nature is beautiful and unspoilt, the Luberon in the south east of France, Antoine quickly wanted to go and travel the world: Australia between his studies in Avignon and La Rochelle and South America.
After a journey that will see him pass by many countries, he remained a few months in the Peruvian Amazon to work on developing responsible tourist tours.
Now he returned to France in Paris and naturally he found Hopineo, convinced that a better world is possible and that this also happens with the development of sustainable tourism!

#France #Africa #Development #Enthusiasm

In multicultural background, Mahery took a liking to travel at the age of 9 months, in his mother’s camper, all across Europe.
He uses his training in business school to engage in entrepreneurship: a structure in Ivory Coast, a network of cellars organic wines in France and then development and marketing consultant for sustainable structures and NGOs from Paris to Port-au-Prince.
He was involved in travel health, sustainable tourism and participatory democracy when Hopineo came up. Mahery feeds daily Hopineo with new ideas, strategy including, of course, communication.
“Travel to live, live for a more sustainable development.”

Jean-Luc

Jean-Luc

#France #TerraLatina #CommunityBasedTourism

Since his studies in political sciences and international relations, Jean-Luc rolled quite his hump: from Journalism (rock!), Honorary consul of France in Venezuela, to the creation of a communication company and the production of jazz programs.

He embraces the tourism sector by developing community-based tourism projects in Venezuela and launching the Latin American Network of Hiking.
After more than 20 years in Latin America and 8 years in Quebec, he is now installed in Drôme Provençale (south east of France). His new challenge: to use his Latin American experience in responsible tourism to inject some ideas in France. Hopineo was so obvious!
“In addition to accommodation, there is the human community, the natural environment, recreation … elements that must be integrated to create a true destination of responsible tourism.”

Louis

Louis

Jacquelyn

Jacquelyn

#Marketing #CostaRica #PuraVida

Originally from Miami, USA, a city with many backgrounds, Jacquelyn was naturally amazed at the exchange of cultures. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality Management & Tourism and a strong course load in marketing.
She was introduced to the concept of sustainable tourism in her exchange semester at MODUL University Vienna, Austria and from that point on she was compelled to contribute towards sustainable/green/ecotourism.

In November 2014, she began working as a communications intern for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. This gave her a great base as she familiarized herself with the GSTC Criteria and Integrity Program. In the meantime, she also began working for BookGreener.com on several projects, one being the idea of a Tour of Costa Rica. In collaboration with BookGreener and Hopineo, this is how the HopTour of Costa Rica was born.
“Travel if done organically and wholeheartedly is incredibly enlightening, and you come to learn that we are not so different after all.”
