The following indications are meant for the HopAmbassadors, to guide them in the execution of the main missions they choose to take on board. It’s like an operational notice!

Preamble & useful documents to be a HopAmbassador

  • To make your integration and your first steps with Hopineo easier, you have a mentor: an experienced HopAmbassador. Don’t have one yet? Contact us, let us know in which geographic area you want to work on, and we’ll put you in touch with your mentor.
  • Before you start, it is important that you know Hopineo well. Have a look at the page Kezaco? Why? How? Who? to get a complete view on the subject.

Ready to get started?

  1. First : sign up as a HopTriper on the Hopineo website
  2. Then, meet and have a chat with your mentor, asking to have your profile changed to “ambassador”
  3. Finally, go through the following notice. And remember: 1/ you can always come back to it whenever you need it. 2/ you can improve it by simple giving your feedback and ideas to your mentor.

How to find potential new HopHosts?

  • Read the article by Florie about this: click here
  • Ask to access the Google Document where we keep track on the potential HopHosts: click here. You can then get familiar with the document, edit it, delete the duplications, add new lines. The only important element to not edit is the columns.
  • IMPORTANT: don’t forget to update the document if you plan some actions with a potential HopHost – it will be useful for other HopTrippers traveling after you!

How to create a new HopHost profile?

The best and easiest way is to do it directly via the website interface

  1. Log in: click here
  2. Go to the page “New HopHost”, also available from the Home Page
  3. Fill in the form and submit
  4. Let the Hopineo Web House know you created a new profile, they will make it public online asap and will keep you updated

The best of the best is to log in the WordPress back office to create profiles in several languages and edit them as much as you need, following these steps:

  1. Log in the back office through this link – using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. In the left column, click on “HopHosts”
  3. Select “Ajouter un nouveau HopHost”
  4. Fill in the form (see details further down)
  5. Click on the “Publish” button – in the right column, between “Language” and “Tags”

How to properly fill in the HopHost profile?

You can have a look at an existing profile if needed, this one for instance

  • “YOAST SEO” champs:
    • Snippet: it’s the text which will appear on Google preview, or when shared on social medias. Select “Edit snippet” and add a description
    • Focus Keyword: add a key word – it can simply be the HopHost’s name
    • Type de HopHost (on the right column): select the one or several categories matching
    • Featured Image: load a representative picture, which will present the profile and will for instance appear on social medias when the link is shared
  • “HopSpot” champs:
    • Responsable: first and last names of the referring contact for Hopineo in the HopHost organization
    • Images: add one or several pictures to illustrate the profile – think about compressing the picture before loading it (max size: 1024×768), by using the software Paint for example
    • Videos: if available, add the link to the Youtube video. Notice, only put the id of the video. For example, sif the total video link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNjXmkyVUEg, only put “HNjXmkyVUEg”).
    • Adresse, Code Postal, Ville, Pays: Address, Zip Code, City, Country – if no Zip Code, just enter “0”
    • Environment: select 1 or several environments related to the HopHost’s activity (Rural, Urban, Sea, Mountain, Warm area, Tempered Area, Cold area
    • URL: enter the link to the HopHost’s website – make sure you start it with http://
    • Adresse e-mail: enter the email address
    • Téléphone: indicate the HopHost’s phone number – with the international phone indicator
    • Périodes d’accueil: enter the phases and durations when the HopHost is happy to welcome volunteers
    • Date d’ouverture: indicate when the organization first opened
    • Le mot du moment: this space is for the HopHost to write a personal message if he wants to. We usually simply write “Welcome at *name of the HopHost*, we are looking forward to meet you!” until the HopHost writes his own message
    • Description: write a text (long or short, as you prefer) which answers the question: what makes a tourist experience with this HopHost so special, authentic and responsible?
    • HopSolutions: list the responsible actions organized by the HopHost
    • Accepte les HopTripers: tick the option of the HopHost is open to the idea of welcoming volunteers ready to swap their skills against food and accommodation
    • Latitude et longitude : very important element, so the profile appears on our WorldMap. You can get the GPS coordonates with Google Maps for instance

Once you’re done, simply click on “Publish” on the right column!

How to edit an existing HopHost profile?

You can access the WordPress back office to edit existing profiles and/or translate them in different languages:

  1. Log in the back office via this link http://hopineo.org/wp-admin using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. On the left column, click on HopHosts
  3. Select the profile you want to edit
  4. Make the modifications you want
  5. Click on “update” – that you will find on the right column, between “Languages” and “Tags”

How to enable a HopHost to edit his profile himself?

A HopHost can update his profile directly front the front office.

If he already has a Hopineo account, he will need to log in first. If he doesn’t have an account yet, he will need to create one (by following the procedure described on the page “How to become a HopHost?”). The HopHost will then be able to log in, and edit his profile by following these steps:

  1. Click on “Hello *name of the HopHost” at the top of the page, next to “sign out”
  2. You will get to the page “edit the profile”
  3. You can then change your HopHost personal information and password
  4. Under this, you will see a part called “Edit your HopHost profile(s)”
  5. You can edit the profile of an existing structure by clicking on it, or add a new structure

How to share my experience with an existing HopHost?

This is very simple:

  1. Log in Hopineo – “Log in” link on the right hand corner of the homepage
  2. Get to the HopHost’s profile page
  3. Add your comment in the “Last HopTrips” space

This makes the website and the HopHost profiles alive. It is very important for the participative aspect of the website and its natural referencing in search motors.

HopSolutions : List good practices

How to add a new good practice?

You can easily present a new HopSolution or a responsible action from the website interface.

  1. Go to the page “New Good Practice
  2. Fill in the form and follow the instructions

The best is again to log in the WordPress back office, to create files in different languages and edit them as you like:

  1. Log in the back office via this link http://hopineo.org/wp-admin/ , using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. On the left column, click on HopSolutions
  3. Select “Ajouter une nouvelle » – “Add a new one”
  4. Fill in the form (details a bit further down this page)
  5. Click on “Publish”, located on the right column between “Languages” and “Tags”

How to edit an existing file?

  1. Log in the back office via this link http://hopineo.org/wp-admin/, using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. On the left column, click on HopSolutions
  3. Select the file you wanna edit
  4. Make the modifications needed
  5. Click on “update” – that you will find on the right column, between “Languages” and “Tags”

NB: if you feel like the changes you want to make are not that relevant to change to whole file, you can also post a comment on the HopSolution file directly on the website, on the “Comments” part of the existing file. This also makes the website alive and helps its natural referencing in search motors.

How to properly fill in a HopSolution file?

  • “YOAST SEO” blocks:

    • Catégories de HopSolutions (on the right column): select the one or several categories matching
  • “HopSolution” blocks:
  • Bénéfices locaux – Local benefits: sum up, in a sentence or two, how this good practice benefits the tourism organization as well as the local population. Include the social, cultural and economic benefits
  • Bénéfices voyageurs – Travel benefits: sum up, in a sentence or two, how this good practice is positive for the tourism benefits, in terms of better service, of quality or authenticity for instance
  • Bénéfices environnement – Environmental benefits: sum up, in a sentence or two, how this practice is good for the environment, the ecology, fauna and flora.
  • Description: describe precisely what this good practice is about and how to set it up.
  • Images: add one or several pictures to illustrate the good practice – think about compressing the picture before loading it (max size: 1024×768), by using the software Paint for example
  • Videos: add the link to the Youtube video, if available

Once you’re done, simply click on “Publish” on the right column!

HopBlog : Publish blog posts

How to create a new blog post ?

HopAmbassadors can access the WordPress back office and publish articles on the Hopineo blog:

  • To tell people about their adventures, share their experiences, their travels and/or HopTrips
  • Or to talk about a subject linked to Responsible Tourism

Here is how to do it:

  1. Log in the back office via this link http://hopineo.org/wp-admin/ , using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. In the left column, select “Posts”
  3. Then click on “Add new”
  4. Fill in the different blanks
  5. Click on “Publish” – which is in the right column, under “Languages”
  6. To translate your post, check the next article “Translations”

Remember, you are not alone! We work as a team, so feel free to ask advice and help to the team members, about technical writing details, or for someone to re-read your post before publishing it!

Translations

How to translate a blog post, a HopHost profile or a HopSolution ?

  1. Log in the back office via this link http://hopineo.org/wp-admin/, using your usual Hopineo username and password
  2. In the left column, select HopHosts, HopSolutions or Posts according to what you want to translate
  3. Then click on the element you would like to translate
  4. In the bloc “Languages”, in the right column, you can tick the “duplicata” box of the language you want translate your post in, and then click on “Duplicate”

  5. The page will then reload. You can go back to the “Language” bloc, and click on the pencil icon

  6. The file in English will then load. Stay in the “Languages” block, to detach the file in English from the file in French by selecting “Traduire à part”

  7. The page will reload again, and you can now edit the file by replacing the text in French by the text in English
  8. Don’t forget to click on “Publish” – on the right column – when you’re done!
